"O Album-oriented rock (ou AOR, significando Album Orientado ao Rock em inglês) era originalmente chamado de álbum-oriented radio, nome retirado de um formato americano de rádio FM que focava em faixas de álbuns de artistas de rock. Em alguns mercados o termo AOR foi reposicionado como Adult-oriented rock rock dirigido a adultos, sugerindo que os adultos seriam mais inclinados a comprar álbuns do que singles.
O termo Arena Rock (ou Rock de Arena em inglês) também foi usado para descrever muitas destas bandas no Brasil.
Do meio para o final da década de 1990, o termo começou a ser associado ao conceito chamado rock melódico que, resumindo, é o som como o das bandas de hard rock e heavy metal dos anos 1970, 1980 e começo dos anos 1990". (Fonte: Wikipédia)
Fiz uma seleção com doze álbuns de doze bandas que podem exemplificar, creio eu, o estilo músical proposto pelo AOR: guitarras melódicas, vocais mais puxados para o agudo, rítmo e teclados bem característicos. Confesso que não sou um perito no assunto, é um estilo que tenho explorado com um pouco mais afinco ultimamente, mas espero ter agradado na escolha dos posts :) ...
